The first batch of Core Power Performance Impact Players of the Week are here! Below are our picks for top performances in Week 1 of the 2020 season:

Blake Bosma (West Ottawa): The Panthers’ receiver had a remarkable game. He caught seventeen passes for 210 yards and all four of West Ottawa’s touchdowns. He also caught a two-point conversion.

Brenden Brechting (Newaygo)The Lions had an explosive fourth quarter to defeat Fremont, and Brechting led the way all night long. He passed for three touchdowns, rushed for the fourth touchdown, converted a two-point conversion and made an interception on defense.

Cam Terry (Grandville): The Bulldogs’ rushing attack was two-headed, with Terry turning in a great performance. He had 13 carries for 186 yards and two touchdown runs (27 and 79 yard runs).

Carson VanderHoff (Caledonia): The senior tailback had 224 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries to help carry Caledonia past West Ottawa.

Connor Hatfield (Livonia Franklin): The Patriots narrowly defeated Dearborn Fordson, and Hatfield scored the game-winning touchdown in the final minute of play. It was his third touchdown of the evening.

Doak Dean (Lowell): The Red Arrows took down East Grand Rapids behind his three rushing touchdowns.

Eli Smith (South Christian): South Christian defeated Kenowa Hills, and the slotback had 10 receptions for 138 yards to lead the passing attack.

Ethan Houghtailing (Zeeland East): The Chix defeated Union by a large margin, and their signal caller was the star of the show. He passed for four touchdowns and rushed for a fifth.

Jackson Burkholder (Rockford): The Rams’ kicker made a clutch field goal in the closing seconds of the game against Jenison to send it to overtime. Rockford would eventually defeat the Wildcats.

Marcel Love (Grandville): The second half of Grandville’s explosive rushing attack was Marcel Love. He had just nine carries, but he racked up 95 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown.

Zak Ahern (Rockford): The Rams’ quarterback led two crucial scoring drives, including the game-winning score in overtime to defeat Jenison.
