This week, MSR covered five teams in the area, following their action. These recaps, and this week’s schedule are below:

Central Montcalm (5-2)

The Hornets swept their opponents this week in two games. On Tuesday night, they battled to a 54-43 victory over Big Rapids. After overcoming a 21-point deficit, Trenton Shaffer secured an offensive rebound and put the ball into the basket before the buzzer sounded to give Central Montcalm the victory. Gunner Hill led all scorers with 30 points, 28 of which came in the second half. On Friday night against Chippewa Hills, the Hornets jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 63-42 win. Shaffer led the team with 18 points, Asher Vissman added 11 points and Aiden Train added a career high 7 points. This week, they will travel to Reed City on Tuesday before hosting Tri-County on Friday.

Forest Hills Central (6-1)

The Rangers won two more games to extend their winning streak to six, and their conference record to 3-0. On Tuesday night, FHC had little trouble in their win over Cedar Springs, a 55-39 win. Jimmy Scholler led the way with 15 points, while Mitch Wilkinson (12 points) and Chris Battiste (10 points) also reached double figures. On Friday, the Rangers defeated Lowell 63-23, a game that was sparked in large part by a 17-5 first quarter. In this game, Mitch Wilkinson was the leading scorer with 24 points, with Jimmy Scholler adding 11. This week, the team has a pair of home games against Ottawa Hills and Forest Hills Northern.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central (7-1)

The Cougars swept a pair of OK Blue foes, before their scheduled showdown with Benton Harbor was snowed out on Saturday. On Tuesday against Allendale, the Cougars jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back. Devin Boyd led the way in this 68-54 victory with 17 points, while Jordan Brooks added 14. Mykel Bingham added another double-double to his total with 15 points and 13 rebounds. On Friday, the Cougars knocked out Coopersville 70-56. Jack Karasinski led all scorers with 25 points. Once again, Bingham had a double-double, this time he had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore Genesis Kemp also added 12 points. This week, GRCC has a pair of road games. On Tuesday night, they will visit Covenant Christian before visiting Sparta on Friday.

Rockford (4-6)

The Rams swept their OK Red opponents this week to move their record to 4-6. On Tuesday, they took down Caledonia 73-63. Rockford got huge games from Sam Krist and Kaden Seelye, as the pair both scored 23 points. On Friday, the Rams took down Grand Haven 51-37. Sam Krist led the way in this game with 17 points, while Kaden Seelye added 11. This week, the Rams host East Kentwood on Tuesday and Hudsonville on Friday.

South Christian (4-3)

The Sailors split their games this week. On Tuesday, they suffered a tough 57-50 defeat against East Grand Rapids. On Friday, they went on the road and got a 59-56 overtime victory over Unity Christian. In front of a standing-room only crowd, these teams went back and forth all night. After a first half that was played to a tie, South Christian used a stifling trap defense to launch a 10-0 run on their way to a nine-point lead after the third quarter. Behind fifteen points from Unity’s Grant Balcer, the Crusaders drew the game back to even and forced overtime. In the extra frame, the Sailors scored the first six points and were able to come out with the win. Connor Dykema led the way with 17 for South. This week, they have a pair of home games against Middleville and Wayland on Tuesday and Friday respectively.
