After three tough defeats to start the 2025 season, Coopersville has started to round into form. After defeating Sparta handily last week, their strong play carried over into their latest RCA game against Greenville. The Broncos improve to 2-3 after their 42-7 drubbing of the ‘Jackets.
In the first quarter, Coopersville got the scoring started with a 1-yard touchdown plunge from Leland Noel. Their lead extended to 14 when Noel returned to the end zone on a 10-yard carry late in the opening stanza.
The second frame saw a mirror performance from Coopersville. They added another 14 points to their tally to expand their lead. Sam McDonald scored the first touchdown, powering through the defense for a 3-yard rush. The fourth touchdown of the half came through the air, as Champ Kelly found Owen Manthei on a 65-yard strike. It was an extremely comfortable 28-0 lead for Coopersville as they entered the locker room.
At the beginning of the third quarter, Greenville stopped the run with a 14-yard touchdown carry. Coopersville would immediately respond, as Manthei was open yet again on a 10-yard pass. The scoring would conclude with Corbin Motman carrying the football nine yards across the goal line.
Coopersville, now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the RCA, has a chance to draw their record back to even next week when they face Allendale. Greenville (1-4) will take on Sparta in RCA play on Friday.
