Friday Night Conference Win

South Christian played Wyoming for a second time this season (65-53 victory on January 3) in front of a packed house where the Sailors pulled out a big conference win, 72-49. The Wolves of Wyoming kept it close with a 5 point game at halftime, but the Sailor came out hot with a 9-0 run to start the 3rd quarter.

It was a much improved balance scoring attack as four seniors were in double figures along with a great spark from the bench. Carson Vis led the way with 20 points, Davis Kemper had 13, Ike Schrotenboer had 12, and Caleb Pleune chipped in 10. Owen Burgess and Charlie DeHaan both made 3’s at the end of the game to help the Sailors pull away.

Big Rivalry Win Over Catholic Central

Former conference rivals met again in downtown Grand Rapids on Tuesday, January 28 for this RE/MAX Power Poll Top 10 matchup. Both teams have double digits wins this season with a lot to prove. History was not on South Christian’s side as the Sailors have not won at Catholic Central since 2014 (52-47) and this team was very motivated to do so. This game was won by South Christian’s team defense that held the Cougars to only 40 points for the game. “We are so proud of our guys for sticking to the game plan and executing against a very good team on the road”, said Sailor Head Coach, Taylor Johnson.
