It was quite the opening night for the Traverse City Central Trojans, as they began 2022 in a showdown with St Joseph at Ferris State University. The Trojans started the season with a 13 play, 80-yard drive which resulted in an Alex Bocardo 5-yard touchdown run. St. Joseph would get their equalizer immediately, as the ensuing kickoff ended with a 71-yard crib call for Hudson Lange.
Josh Klug would score on a 12-yard touchdown run the following possession for the Trojans. The Trojans would add to the tally with a Reed Seabase score early in the second quarter, jumping ahead 21-7.
St. Joseph would respond with a nice 69-yard touchdown run from Trey McGinnis. Both teams would trade scores until the 3:13 mark in the first half, when Josh Klug ran for his second touchdown in the first half. The Trojans would command a 35-20 lead over the Bears at the break.
The Trojans would bust the game open with a pair of Josh Klug touchdowns in the third, which would be enough to take a 49-28 victory back to Traverse City.
