The West Catholic Falcons took on the Fruitport Trojans on Friday night in an OK Blue battle. West Catholic, who came in with a 2-0 record in league play, dominated Fruitport and sent the Trojans to their third league loss, 49-14.
Tim Kloska reeled off a 70-yard sprint to the end zone to get the scoring started. Fruitport responded with a scoring pass to Cody Nash from Gavin Reames to even the count at seven. West Catholic would score twice to take a 21-7 advantage after the first quarter. Elliot Zainea broke off an 11-yard run, and Noah Arsulowicz tossed a 13-yard pass to John Kirkbride.
In the second quarter, the Falcons’ offensive runs continued. Aruslowicz tossed a deep ball to Carter Perry, an 85-yard scoring play. Tim Kloska reeled off another touchdown sprint, a 76-yard bolt to the end zone. Fruitport would score the final touchdown of the first half, as Gavin Reames broke off a 30-yard quarterback keeper. This made the score 35-14 Falcons at the break.
In the second half, West Catholic scored the lone touchdowns. Noah Aruslowicz used his legs on a 2-yard quarterback keeper. Elliot Zainea scored his second rushing touchdown of the night, as he reeled off a 66-yard sprint.
Tim Kloska led West Catholic with 220 rushing yards on 14 carries. Elliot Zainea added 20 carries that tallied 209 yards. Noah Arsulowicz was effective passing as well, finishing 12/21 for 231 yards and two scores.
West Catholic (5-0) now is set to square off against Coopersville, who is also 5-0. Fruitport is now 1-4, with four straight losses. They will look to shake off the defeats against Hamilton next Friday.
