The Reeths-Puffer Rockets began OK Green play on Friday against the Wolves of Wyoming. A successful launch to the conference campaign resulted in a 48-12 win for the Rockets.

On their opening drive, Puffer got in the scoring column. Ben Veihl and Tayte Vanderleest paired up for a 17-yard touchdown, giving the Rockets a 7-0 lead. The duo would connect again for a touchdown on a short field, and the 10-yard pass gave Puffer a 14-0 lead after twelve minutes.

Wyoming got on the scoreboard with a pass from Bernie Varnesdeel to Avion Joye that covered about 45 yards. The Rockets would push their lead back to twenty points when Veihl and Alex Johnson connected on a 23-yard score in the closing seconds of the half.

Early in the third quarter, Wyoming struck first. The duo of Varnesdeel and Joye appeared unstoppable, as they struck again on a 15-yard pass. It would take Puffer just one play to respond, as Brody Johnson bolted through the heart of the Wyoming defense for a 43-yard touchdown run. He would add another score on a 16-yard run late in the third, giving Puffer a 41-12 advantage with one quarter to play.

In the final frame, Tyviea Williams capped off the scoring with a 4-yard carry. This rush, just twelve seconds into the fourth, would be the game’s last scoring play.
