The Freeland Falcons returned to the gridiron on Friday for their latest TVC-Red action. Their opponent was the Essexville Garber Dukes, a team that they have defeated in each of the previous eight meetings. This ninth rendition was no different, as the Falcons breezed past their opposition in a 48-8 rout.

In the first quarter, Freeland scored 27 points to blow this game wide open. Parker Lentner got things started with an explosive 51-yard sprint to the end zone. Keenan Cooper scored a pair of rushing touchdowns on short carries of 5 and 6 yards respectively, while sandwiched in between, Karson Worth had a 32-yard touchdown dash.

This lead expanded in the second quarter with two more touchdowns, triggering the rushing clock. Lentner returned to the end zone on an 11-yard carry, his second score of the night. The Freeland defense added to the scoring with a 27-yard interception return by Zander Wheatley. The Falcons took a convincing 41-0 lead into the locker room.

Both teams scored one time in the second half. Garber scored in the third quarter with a 26-yard touchdown carry from Dominic Knayzek. Freeland got a fourth quarter touchdown run from Nathan Auld, a 10-yard carry.

Freeland moves to 5-1 with the win. Tristian Comer should not be lost in this victory, with 3.5 sacks on defense. The Falcons will look to keep their win streak going next week against Bay City John Glenn. Essexville Garber (2-4) will look to snap their losing skid next week against Alma.
