After losses in their first three weeks, the Coopersville Broncos have had to claw their way back to postseason contention. On Friday night, they evened their record at 3-3 after dominating the Allendale Falcons 35-7.

In the first quarter, Coopersville found the end zone twice. On their opening drive, Champ Kelly found his top target, Brooks Hadden for a 16-yard touchdown strike. After a quick defensive stop, Sam McDonald added to the lead with a 16-yard run to the end zone. After twelve minutes of action, it was 14-0 Broncos.

The lead grew in the second quarter, as McDonald returned to the end zone just seconds into the frame. He hauled in a 14-yard pass from Kelly, and it was 21-0 Coopersville. Allendale finally found the end zone on a Zyion Smith 8-yard touchdown run. Coopersville would take a 28-7 lead into the locker room when “Super Sam” ran 33 yards for his third touchdown of the evening.

Already ahead comfortably at the half, Coopersville tacked on some insurance late in the third quarter. Brooks Hadden used his legs for a short 2-yard keeper. This put the Broncos ahead by the game’s final margin, 35-7.

This third straight victory for Coopersville gets them back to .500 with a 3-3 record. They close the season with a daunting schedule, facing Kenowa Hills, Big Rapids and Cedar Springs in consecutive weeks. For Allendale, they slide to 1-5. They will look to bounce back next Friday when they face the Lowell Red Arrows.
