South Christian 81, Grand Rapids Union 49
On Tuesday night, January 14, the South Christian Sailors went on the road to new OK Gold opponent Grand Rapids Union. The Red Hawks held the Sailors to a slower start and stayed in the game by cutting the Sailor lead to 4 in the first half. The second half was a different story as South started on fire. Threes were falling as South finished the game with eight three pointers (Senior Stars, Carson Vis made three 3 PTs and Davis Kemper with two 2 PTs). Vis finished with 30 points and Isaac Schrotenboer had 15 points himself with 8 rebounds.
South Christian 69, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 51
The Sailors hit the road and headed south on Saturday, January 10 for a key road game at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix. South got off to a slow start again as Norrix was red hot behind the arc and to got up 20-9. The Sailor defense clamped down and held the Knights scoreless for the next six minutes to tie the game at 31 going into halftime. With star big man, Davis Kemper, out with a hurt ankle, Senior Isaac Schrotenboer and Ty Brinks stepped up. The two bigs combined for 23 points and 18 rebounds. Carson Vis and Austin Burgess each had 6 assists that allowed the Sailors to pull away in the second half and go on to win 69-51.
Northview Game Postponed to 1/22
South Christian was originally scheduled to play Northview tonight (January 21 at 7:00 PM) in a top 10 matchup, but due to weather, the game has been pushed to Wednesday, January 22. Stay tuned to school’s social sites for game updates. The game against Northview will be live on Michigan Sports Radio (pending weather issues).
