The Coopersville Broncos faced the Allendale Falcons in the fourth week of RCA action. Coopersville remains unbeaten after defeating their conference foes 42-20.
In the first quarter, each team found the end zone. Isaac Lemieux got Coopersville started with a 3-yard touchdown run. Allendale would respond with an Ian Bunce 2-yard plunge, but a failed PAT left them behind by a point.
The Broncos were able to create some separation in the second quarter, finding the end zone twice. Beau Harris and Brooks Hadden provided the exclamation point on each drive. Their 28 and 29 yard touchdown connections gave Coopersville a 21-6 halftime lead. These scores also created school history, as Hadden’s 12th receiving touchdown set a Coopersville school record.
Midway through the third quarter, Allendale responded. Bunce used his legs once more, powering across the goal line from 6 yards out, trimming the lead back to seven points. Coopersville would respond by going back to the Hadden well. The star receiver hauled in a 38-yard touchdown, extending the Broncos’ lead to 14 once again.
Allendale did not shy away, as they used special teams to get within a score once more. Zyion Smith recovered a blocked punt and rumbled 5 yards for a touchdown. Coopersville would go to Beau Harris to ice the game, and he used his dual-threat abilities to put the game away. First, he broke off a 46-yard quarterback keeper. He followed that up with a touchdown toss to Sam McDonald from 39 yards out.
Coopersville, now 5-1 for the first time since 2008, will look to clinch at least a share of the RCA title next week when they face Kenowa Hills. Allendale, now 1-5, will look to bounce back against Lowell.
