BACK TO BACK:
For the second year in a row, the Rockford Rams are headed back to the Breslin Center after
defeating Holt 50-36.
The Rams have now taken down two great programs over the last week in Byron Center and
Holt. After being tested against Jenison, Rockford picked it up a notch and they have controlled
their last two games.
Leading the Rockford charge the past two games has been freshman Sienna Wolfe. Wolfe led the
Rams in their win over Byron Center with 20 points. The talented freshman followed that up by
tonight with 14 points. Sophomore Anna Wypych, who knows exactly what it feels like to have
those big games as a freshman, has put together a big sophomore campaign. She was big tonight
against Holt with 14 points of her own. Alyssa Wypych pitched in 13 of her own.
This one was going to be a battle coming in. Holt came into the game cruising through each of
their playoff matchups against some of the top tier programs in the state this season. They were
coming off their biggest one yet against a potent DeWitt team, defeating the Panthers 52-36. But
even with that, Rockford controlled much of this game and limited the Holt offense. Janae Tyler
was really the only one that could get going for Holt as she led them with 17 points on the night.
Rockford will now have a chance to take on a 23-1 Detroit Renaissance team. The Phoenix
continue to put impressive seasons together and are led by Christian Sanders. Renaissance has
four players averaging at least 11 points per game and they can fill it up in a hurry.
There’s one thing that’s certain and that’s the fact that Rockford doesn’t care who they play right
now. A team that comes in with over 231 three-pointers on the season and can lock you down
defensively, this is a team that has been soaring high all season. They’ll look to continue what
they’ve done all season.
The Rams will take on the Phoenix in the Semifinals on Thursday at the Breslin Center with a tip
of 2:00. With a win, Rockford has a chance to play for the Division 1 State Championship on
Saturday.
