Strong 2nd quarter powers Big Rapids passed Alma. The scoring started 5-minutes in when Gianni Tripp for Alma breaks a rush from midfield into the end zone. The PAT was no good. That was the only scoring that took place in the 1st quarter, Alma 6, Big Rapids 0.
The Cardinals got their offense rolling in the 2nd quarter and it started with a Wil Strickler 5-yard run a minute in. Jace Heck’s PAT was good. Big Rapids puts another score on the board not even 2-minutes later, this time the 3-yard run from Garrett Foster. Heck’s kick is good. Another 2-minutes passes by and Wil Stricker drops back and finds Zander Prince for 6. The PAT by Heck is good. The Panthers would respond with a minute left in the half with a Jacoby Dunlap pass to Cade Sutherland for the 13-yard score. The final play of the half would also be a Dunlap pass, this time to Delvon Pasco-Ward for an Alma touchdown. The PAT by Alex Reyes is good. At the half Big Rapids 21, Alma 19.
The only score of the 3rd quarter came with 2-minutes remaining, the Strickler-Prince connections would prevail again from 22-yards out. Heck would covert the PAT. At the end of the 3rd, Big Rapids led 28-19.
Strickler would touch paint early in the 4th quarter using his legs on a 12-yard rush. Heck’s kick was good. Big Rapids would stick to the ground and a minute later, Riley Vennix would find his hole and score from 13 away. Heck would convert another PAT. The final scoring play of the game came with 5-minutes left when Alma’s Dunlap dropped back and found Sutherland for another score. Reyes PAT was good. The final Big Rapids 42, Alma 26.
Big Rapids finishes the regular season with 7-2 record and will await to hear their name called on Sunday. Alma finished their season with a 2-7 record.
