The Coopersville Broncos travelled east to face the West Catholic Falcons. The Broncos entered the contest with a 3-2 record and a tough two games finish to their season. The Falcons were looking to rebound after a tough loss to the Fruitport Trojans. If Coopersville wanted a win on Friday night, they were going to need to play a similar game to what the Trojans did a week ago. They couldn’t execute that game plan, and the Falcons dominated the game 37-0.

It was all West Catholic in this contest as their defense, special teams, and offense all could get on the board. The scoring started late in the first quarter when Bernie Varnesdeel found Ryar Snow in the endzone for an 11-yard pass. The Broncos were able to keep the Falcons out of the endzone again, until there were about 3 minutes left in the second. It was Varnesdeel again, this time finding Ethan Stoner for 16 yards. West Catholic’s defense decided to get into the scoring again when Danny Groszkieicz was able to pick the ball off a pass from Colton Bosch. He ran the ball 100 yards to complete the pick-six.

After a trip to the locker room, the Falcons came out hustling. Vardnesdeel was able to use his legs to get into the endzone after weaving between the Broncos defense. He ran it for 43 yards. Minutes later, Vardnesdeel was back to using his arm and connected with Tim Kloska for a score. To close out the scoring, Carson Beekman was able to tack on 3-points after a successful 42-yard field goal attempt.

The highly anticipated game between West Catholic and Unity Christian is scheduled to take place next Friday night. They have both had very strong seasons both being undefeated in the OK Blue until week 7 when the Falcons lost and week 8 when the Crusaders lost to the Lakers. Unity Christian and West Catholic will battle it out to claim the OK Blue conference title next week. Fruitport also has a chance to grab a share of the title with the victor of that game, provided the Trojans also win next week. The Coopersville Broncos will host the Lakers of Spring Lake. They look to close the season out with a win and increase their chances of making the playoffs.
