The Rangers hosted Grand Rapids Christian in their Homecoming game on Friday night. It was an early onslaught of FHC offense that saw them secure a 30-7 victory.
Justin Osterhouse got things started with a 4-yard quarterback keeper. That was the first and only scoring play of the opening frame, with the Rangers securing a 7-0 lead. Forest Hills Central doubled the lead with a 1-yard carry by JT Hartman, taking the 14-0 advantage into the locker room.
It was more of the same for FHC in the second half. Osterhouse used his legs again for a 1-yard touchdown carry. Andrew Novay booted another remarkably long field goal, this time a 43-yard boot. The Rangers would cap off their night with a 20-yard pass from Osterhouse to Sam Sneider.
Trailing 30-0, the Eagles finally got on the scoreboard. Dewayne Goree bowled across the goal line from a yard out. Jordan Rodgers booted an extra point.
Noah Funk finished 12/26 passing for 157 yards in the game that saw him get the most action so far this fall for Grand Rapids Christian. Forest Hills Central saw Justin Osterhouse complete 2/3 passes for 38 yards. He added 17 carries for 107 yards with three total touchdowns.
With this victory, the Rangers are now 8-0. They will look to secure their first undefeated regular season since 2017. Standing in their way is their longtime rival, Forest Hills Northern. Grand Rapids Christian finds themselves at 3-5 with a game against Byron Center remaining on the schedule.
