The St. Joseph Bears looked to continue their impressive season against the Lakeshore Lancers. The Bears busted the game open early with a pair of rushing touchdowns. The first coming from Matthew Lanier from 9 yards out, and the second from Trey McGinnis from 38 yards out. Lakeshore would respond with a 50-yard passing touchdown from Asher Kuhn to Zachary Ort to bring the game back to one possession. That would not matter however as the Bears would rattle off the next 28 points. The Bears would improve to 6-1 on the year and 5-0 in conference play.
The rushing tandem of Trey McGinnis and Matthew Lanier played a critical part in victory tonight. McGinnis was the leading rusher with 18 carries for 142 yards and three scores. Matthew Lanier had 9 carries for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Joron Brown had 12 carries for 78 yards.
The Bears will look to remain unblemished in conference play next week against Mattawan and the Lancers will hit the road and take on Portage Northern.
