The Coyotes scored quick and often to take the big win over Newaygo, 62-17. Reed City started with their power run to pick up big chunks, and finally reached the endzone with the 1-yard rush from Bryson Hughes early in the 1st quarter. The 2-point attempt was good with the run by Hughes. The Lions fought back and drove the ball down the field but had to settle with the Josiah Long 43-yard field goal. Both defenses stepped up late in the 1st quarter to hold each other. After 1, it was Reed City 8, Newaygo 3.

Not even 15 seconds into the 2nd quarter, Hughes breaks a run outside and takes it 62-yards for another Coyotes touchdown. 2-point good from Noah Morgan. 1-minute later the Coyotes break another 60-yard run, this time from John Ondrus. Hughes gets the 2-point attempt.

With 7:30 remaining left in the half, Reed City decides to air it out and Xavier Allen connects with a tight end for a 37-yard score. Ondrus scored the 2-point try. The Coyotes went back in the air this time Allen finds Max Hammond wide open from 41-yards out. Hughes reaches on the 2-point try. With under a minute, Newaygo would finally respond, as Blake Kerr rolls to his right and finds Logan Klomp for the 5-yard touchdown pass. Long connects on the PAT. On the ensuing kickoff Bryson Hughes would take it 95-yards to close the half out with a score. Aiden Storz would score the 2-point. At the half Reed City led Newaygo 48-10.

The 2nd half flew by with the running clock in motion. That didn’t slow Reed City down, as Morgan powered it in from 4-yards out. Hughes converted yet another 2-point try. That was the end of the 3rd, but as the 4th quarter rolled around, freshman Andre Kiaunis would reach the end zone with 7-minutes remaining. Kevin Wessels would score on the 2-point try. Newaygo would give it one last try, and Kerr would find Long for a 26-yard pitch and catch. Long would convert the PAT. The final Reed City 62, Newaygo 17.

The Lions fall to 2-4. They will host Chippewa Hills next Friday. Reed City improves to 5-1. They will be at home against Kent City in week seven.
