The Jenison Wildcats travelled the short distance to take on their neighboring rival Hudsonville looking to spoil the Eagles homecoming night.
In the first half, it was a close contest with Jenison having several longer drives only to be turned away via penalty, turnover or turnover on downs.
Hudsonville scored in first quarter after a 45-yard drive with a 3-yard toss from Trey Carr to senior tight end Mason Dykstra. Ian Munoz hit the point after for a 7-0 lead.
Hudsonville continued their scoring in the second quarter with a 65-yard strike from Carr to senior WR Brad Raredon, who was able to grab the tipped pass and complete the long touchdown play. Munoz hit the extra point to take a 14-0 lead into the half,
Hudsonville took the second half kickoff at their own 30-yard line and two plays later Carr connected on a 66-yard touchdown pass play to senior WR Eli VanderVeen. VanderVeen fought off the defender, and he was able to keep his balance before heading to the end zone for six. Munoz completed the score with the extra point making the lead 21-0.
On their next possession, Hudsonville took over on downs and Carr quickly connected on an 80 pass play again to Raredon. who took it 80 yards for the score. Again, Munoz connected to expand the lead to 28-0.
Munoz added a 32-yard field goal late in the third quarter to extend the lead to 31-0.
Hudsonville closed the scoring in the fourth quarter. Looking to grind out the clock, Carr fed senior Drew Baine the ball for several runs until he broke through and went 71 yards for the final score. Munoz closed the scoring with the final point after kick.
Jenison drove the ball the length of the field late in the fourth quarter but. the. drive. stalled at the Hudsonville 2-yard line as time expired. Final score, Hudsonville 38, Jenison 0.
The Eagles host Rockford next week, while Jenison hosts Grandville.
