The Patriots of Britton Deerfield hosted the Green Devils of Brown City on Friday night in a non-league battle. Fireworks were a plenty on offense, with 94 combined points on the board. In the end, Brown City raked up 56 of those points in a three-score win, 56-38.

This game was tied at 8 after the first quarter, and 22 at halftime. The third quarter saw Brown City begin to pull away, but it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that this was truly out of reach. B-D was within four, 42-38, with six minutes to go, but Brown City iced it with two touchdowns, including a pick six with 12 seconds to go.

B-D actually outgained Brown City 474-410 in defeat. Tristan Johnson was 10/15 passing for 121 yards. He also added 89 rushing yards on 12 carries. Nick Wayne carried a bulk of the offense with his 24 carries and 250 yards on the ground.

Kyle Affer had 18 carries to pace Brown City. Affer finished with 201 rushing yards and three scores. This was a big bounce back win for Brown City after losing poorly to Martin last week.

Britton-Deerfield slides to 3-3 with this loss. Next week, they wrap up Tri-River play against Maple Valley. Indian River Inland Lakes and Adrian Lenawee Christian loom for the Patriots in the final two weeks. Brown City (5-1) will now take on Mesick.
