The West Ottawa Panthers started the season with two victories. In each of the past three weeks, they suffered a defeat against OK Red foes. This Friday, they flipped the script, taking down the Grand Haven Buccaneers 35-14.

Kayden Forbes had another strong night for the victorious Panthers. He had 20 carries, racking up 157 yards and two touchdowns. As a team, West Ottawa rushed 39 times for 269 yards. Rueben Esparza and Ryan Stam joined Forbes in the end zone, with a rushing touchdown each.

Cole Tulgetske was efficient as the Panthers’ signal-caller. He attempted 14 passes, completing 11. Tulgetske racked up 175 yards and a touchdown through the air. His passing score went to Matt Harrison.

Grand Haven saw a pair of rushing touchdowns in defeat. Chase Robinson powered across the goal line from a yard out. In the fourth quarter, Xzavier Rodriguez scored on a 3-yard carry.

Next week, West Ottawa (3-3) will take on East Kentwood. Grand Haven (1-5) will face undefeated Caledonia.
