The Bridgman Bees ran all over the Eau Claire Fighting Beavers in a 69-22 rout on Thursday. The win pushed Bridgman to the top of the SWMFL-II standings at 5-0.
For the Bees, it was the Reid Haskins show early and often. The senior signal-caller got things started early in the first quarter with an 11-yard rushing touchdown before following that up with a 30-yard touchdown pass to his brother, Wade Haskins, to give the Bees an early 14-0 advantage.
Bridgman was up 28-0 before the Beavers found the score board with long touchdown pass. Reid Haskins would answer with his second rushing score to push the lead back to 35-8 mid-way through the second quarter. The Beavers would try not to go quietly, responding to the Bees’ score with another touchdown, this one a 66-yard touchdown pass, to stay within striking distance.
But despite their best efforts, the Beavers simply lost their footing late in the half. After the score, the Bees responded with three consecutive scoring drives to stretch the lead within reach. Bridgman led 55-22 heading into the locker rooms.
For the game, Haskins would rush for an incredible 296 yards and five scores. Guided by his impressive effort, the result of this game was never in doubt. Junior running back Clark Smith poured in 176 rushing yards and two touchdowns and senior Christian Dinges got in on the action as well with 46 yards and a touchdown of his own. The Bees were led in receiving by Wade Haskins, who corralled four receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bees remain undefeated and will head on the road to face Wyoming Lee. The Beavers will try and bounce back next week when they take on Tri-Unity Christian.
