After a tough loss to Byron Center last week, Battle Creek Central got back on track in a major way on the road at Harper Creek on Thursday. Their scoring started with a 13-yard touchdown run by Devoine Newton. He followed it up with a 4-yard rushing touchdown to put the Bearcats up 14-0, which would end up being the halftime score.

Newton topped off his special night with his third rushing touchdown of 20 yards. The Bearcats would finish off Harper Creek with a pair of touchdowns by Kailan Brown and Jarrece Johnson to give Central a 34-0 shutout victory.

The star of the night was Devoine Newton, who threw for 159 yards to go with 81 yards and a hat trick of touchdowns on the ground. Kailan Brown chimed in with seven rushes for 55 yards and a touchdown as well. Jarrece Johnson had 67-yard touchdown on his only touch of the game.

The Bearcats will face the Huskies of Portage Northern on the road next Friday. Harper Creek will look to get on the right track next Friday against Jackson Northwest.
