This is the final MSR Alley Talk prior to this weekend’s regionals. This will take a look back at the past week, as well as previewing the regionals.

 

Recent Results

Battle Creek Lakeview: The Spartans defeated Portage Northern 19-11 in boys bowling. Lonnie Green (202-185), Hunter Markos (185-133), Cameron McKee (175-213), Cade Landers (187-181) and Riley Ashby (112-124) led BCL in scoring. In the roll-off for second place, Lakeview defeated Three Rivers 2-0 in a best-of-three Baker games. Lakeview beat Loy Norrix in their final match 26-4 to finish fifth in the conference. Isabella Liebana (152), Alissa Mella (124-123) and Lauren Davis (146) led the ladies.

Caledonia: The Fighting Scots girls defeated East Kentwood 21-9 last week. Emma Whitman (375), Kaelin Kalacanic (338) and Kala Bisterfeldt (323) led Caledonia. Later in the week, the ladies lost to Hudsonville. Kala Bisterfeldt (346) and Emma Whitman (306) led the Fighting Scots. On the boys bowling circuit, Caledonia lost to East Kentwood 23-7. Caledonia was led by Alec Bisterfeldt (256) and Ayden Sulzener (216-213) in defeat. The Fighting Scots were shorthanded in their 26-4 defeat to Hudsonville. Ayden Sulzener (234-221) and JJ Pettenger (204-209) led the team. Alec Bisterfeldt, Ayden Sulzener, Emma Whitman and Kala Bisterfeldt were named all conference by the OK Red.

East Kentwood: The Falcons defeated Caledonia 23-7 last Wednesday. The boys were led by Elijah Cruz (242), Nicholas Boomstra (217), Parker Lovejoy (214) and Ben Schraeger (206).

Forest Hills Eastern: The Hawks defeated the Bengals 28-2 in the boys match. Gabe Biel (193) and Bryce Jenkins (170) led FHE. The girls were unopposed, defeating the Bengals 30-0. Emilee Nowicki led FHE with a 162-131 series.

Frankenmuth Boys: The Eagles took place at the TVC Tournament over the weekend. They finished in 5th place with a 3329 team total. Bullock Creek secured the title with a 3874. Jase Clairmont won the singles title, as the Birch Run star posted an 841 4-game total. Cameron Severs (11th, 678), Mayson Knopp (12th, 665) and Zac Schmitzer (14th, 649) led Frankenmuth.

Frankenmuth Girls: The Eagles were at the TVC Tournament over the weekend. The girls placed 10th with a 2478 team total. Bay City John Glenn captured the title with a 3636 score. Caeli Schultz captured the individual honors, as the John Glenn freshmen posted a 758 4-game total. Katie Deal (35th) and Jozie Felske (36th) had strong finishes for the eagles. Jozie Felske was named 2nd team All-TVC.

Otsego Boys: The Bulldogs bowled strong at the SWM championship. They defeated Kalamazoo Central in their match, with Gavin Merrill posting a 338 series. Zach Byron added a 327 series. Merrill is averaging 159 on the season, while Connor Farrish (150) and Byron (148) round out the top three scorers.

Otsego Girls: Otsego wrapped up their regular season at the SWM and Wolverine tournaments. Wybie Burke, Alicyn Klok and McKinley Kinnane finished 2nd team All-Conference at the Wolverine Tournament, as the team placed 3rd. In the SWM conference event, Otsego also finished third. Wybie Burke, Chloe Vincent and McKinley Kinnane led the way at this event. Klok leads the team at a 142 average on the season, while McKinley Kinnane is averaging 138.

Wayland: The Wildcats rallied from 100 pins downs to secure the OK Gold Girls Championship over the weekend. Kadence Bottrall won the individual title, and she was joined by Isabella Harnish (5th) on the All-Tournament team. Bottrall and Harnish were joined by Breanna Hyde on the All-Conference team. On the boys team, Stephen Harnish placed Honorable Mention.

Zeeland: The co-op Zeeland team defeated Coopersville in both the boys and girls matches. The boys defeated the Broncos 17-13, as Nick Woodman rolled a 245. The girls won 27-3, as the entire team posted a new high series with a 1074. Megan Gemmill (246-214), Ellie Drenten (233), Alyssa Forney (202) and Hayden Pompey-Oshinski (201) led Zeeland in scoring.
