The South Christian Sailors travelled down to Plainwell on Friday night for their playoff opener. It was absolute cruise control for South Christian, as they scored the first 52 points in this contest, securing a 52-7 victory.
In the first quarter, the Sailors scored twice. After recovering a fumble near midfield, they needed six plays to cover 50 yards. Nate Brinks started things off with a 12-yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter, Jake DeHaan used his legs on a 12-yard carry.
Nate Brinks continued to add the scoring column with a 32-yard field goal. On the next offensive series, Brinks scored on a 5-yard carry. This gave South Christian a 24-0 halftime lead.
Brinks continued his hot start with a 9-yard touchdown run. This was the conclusion of a three-touchdown game. Jake DeHaan found Jack Schruer on a 47-yard touchdown catch. Before the quarter ended, Charlie Schruer sprinted through the defense. Both teams exchanged touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Jake DeHaan completed 7/9 passes for 105 yards. Chandler VanSolkema turned 12 carries into 107 yards. Next week, the Sailors will remain away from home, with a date set against the Hastings Saxons.
