The Fowler Eagles welcomed the Holton Red Devils to town for a Division 8 District Semifinal. In a competitive game early, Fowler capitalized on crucial Holton errors to propel themselves to a 54-6 victory.

With four minutes to go in the first half, Holton only trailed 13-6, and they had the football. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, they threw an interception that led to a Fowler touchdown. One error compounded into another as Holton coughed up the ensuing kickoff. This gave the Eagles a short field that they capitalized on to score yet again.

Early in the second half, Holton showed some life offensively, moving the football, but the Red Devils could not turn that momentum into points. Fowler, meanwhile, continued to roll. The Eagles’ 54 points is a season-high, and the most for the program since scoring 63 against Potterville back in 2012.

Next week, the #1 seed Fowler will look to secure a district championship. They will host Carson City-Crystal, who defeated Saranac 52-13 in this week’s semifinal matchup. These two teams were scheduled to play in this year’s season opener, but it was cancelled due to COVID. In the 2019 season opener, Fowler dominated the Eagles 49-6.
