In their sixth game of the year, it was their defense that stepped up, allowing the Bulldogs to win despite scoring just fourteen points. For the first time since October 2019, Byron Center pitched a shutout, winning 14-0.
Byron Center scored twice in this game, both in the first quarter. Brady Breit got things started with a 4-yard touchdown run just four minutes into the action. With twenty-two seconds left in the opening frame, Hunter Schichtel kept the football and darted 38 yards into the end zone. Two Caden Balkon extra points gave the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead.
The Bulldogs defense forced two turnovers in this game, both forced fumbles. They allowed 254 yards of offense, but held FHN to 3/10 on third downs and 0/2 on fourth down.
With this win, Byron Center is 6-0, the only undefeated team in the OK White. They are joined in the OK White standings by Forest Hills Central with unbeaten league marks, as the Rangers are 4-0 in conference play. Next week, Byron Center will take on Grand Rapids Christian. Forest Hills Northern, now 2-4, will take on their rivals, Forest Hills Central.
