The Northpointe Christian Mustangs welcomed Auburn Hills Oakland Christian to town for a Saturday non-conference battle. It was a one-sided affair, as the Mustangs topped the Lancers 44-19.

After Oakland Christian scored the opening touchdown, Northpointe responded with two scores of their own. Jon Braam tossed the first score to Gibson Adema late in the first quarter, before Eric Braam got the second quarter offense rolling with a 10-yard touchdown plunge. Two successful conversions gave NPC a 16-7 lead.

Oakland Christian would respond with a touchdown, getting within three. Northpointe answered back with twenty-two unanswered points to blow this game wide open.

Tristan Pranger got things started with a 65-yard sprint to the end zone. That pushed the halftime lead to nine. Coming out of the locker room, Jon Braam used his legs on a quarterback keeper that covered 65 yards. Later in the third, DeAngelo Persons stepped in front of a pass and raced 70 yards for the score. This gave the Mustangs a commanding 38-13 lead with twelve minutes to go.

The Lancers and Mustangs exchanged touchdowns in the fourth quarter. DeAngelo Persons’ second touchdown, a 45-yard sprint, capped off the scoring in this game.

Jon Braam finished 2/4 passing for 52 yards. He added 122 rushing yards on 10 carries. Tristan Pranger turned his 10 carries into 111 yards, while DeAngelo Persons had 55 yards on the ground.

Jordan Johnson led Oakland Christian’s passing attack with 128 yards. Ethan Townsend chipped in 93 yards on 17 carries as the feature back. Josh Benore complimented him with 44 yards on 13 carries.

Next week, Northpointe Christian (2-2) returns to Tri-River action against Maple Valley (1-3). Oakland Christian (2-2) will play another Tri-River foe in Britton-Deerfield (4-0).
