The Concord ‘Jackets travelled to Vermontville on Friday night to face off against Maple Valley. The Lions were no match for Concord, as they lost 60-18.

Tyler Carpenter aired it out for the ‘Jackets’ first touchdown. He paired up with Mekhi Wingfield on a 43-yard strike. The Concord defense would respond on the ensuing Maple Valley drive, as Logan Lamb scooped up a fumble and rumbled into the end zone on a 64-yard return. Jacob Cook ran in the two-point conversion. After a Maple Valley touchdown, Carpenter and Wingfield struck for a 70-yard touchdown that drove the lead to 22-6.

Maple Valley scored first in the second quarter, but Concord responded with two scores. Tyler Carpenter used his legs for a 31-yard touchdown run. Later in the frame, Logan Lamb reeled off a 99-yard touchdown run, racing down the field through the Lions’ defense. Jacob Cook’s two-point conversion gave the ‘Jackets a 36-12 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Maple Valley got a short touchdown run. Carpenter and Wingfield would pair up for a third time, extending the lead to 44-18 Jackets. Concord would get two more rushing touchdowns from Tyler Carpenter in the fourth quarter.

Tyler Carpenter was 8/9 passing, tallying up 166 yards and three touchdowns. He also had eight carries for 208 yards and three scores. Logan Lamb chipped in 102 rushing yards on just two carries. Mekhi Wingfield caught five passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns.

Concord, now 2-2 on the season, will play Vandercook Lake next Friday. Maple Valley (1-3) will also remain in league play with a battle against Northpointe Christian.
