Belding hosted their Homecoming game on Friday night, as the Calvin Christian Squires came to town. After four quarters of football, its safe to say the Black Knights’ student body will have something to celebrate at their dance. A 57-13 win over Calvin Christian moves Belding to a perfect 4-0.

A bit of trickery got the scoring started for the Black Knights. On a 4th Down and 4, Isai Badder took the fake punt and raced 68 yards to the end zone. Belding would push the lead to 13-0 when Koden McNeil scored on their next possession. The third possession was equally as successful, with Dylan Rockburn joining the scoring party with a 24-yard run. This gave the Black Knights a 20-0 edge after one quarter.

Paul Bouma IV got Calvin on the board with a touchdown pass midway through the second quarter. Belding would quickly respond, with a 20-yard touchdown run by their quarterback, Anthony Szubinski.

Bouma would toss another touchdown, a 25-yard strike, to get Calvin back within two touchdowns. Bryce Flynn would quickly respond with a 60-yard sprint to the end zone, giving the Black Knights a 35-13 halftime lead.

In the second half, Belding scored three times. TJ Johnson‘s 40-yard touchdown run got the Black Knights to the half-century mark with seconds remaining in the third quarter. Bryce Flynn’s final touchdown pushed the score to its final tally.

The 4-0 Black Knights will host Sparta next week in OK Silver action. Calvin Christian (1-3) will square off with Kelloggsville on Friday.
