The Oakridge Eagles won on Friday night over Ravenna in large part because of their stellar play coming out of the locker room. Trailing by one at halftime, they scored twenty-two unanswered points in the second half to win this contest 34-13.

After a scoreless first quarter, Ravenna got on the board first. Kyle Beebe found Joel Emery on a twenty-two yard touchdown pass that put the Bulldogs ahead 7-0. Less than a minute later, Oakridge responded with a big passing play of their own. Braedyn Beattie aired it out and connected with Jacob Danicek on a sixty-two yard passing touchdown.

The Eagles would take the lead when they got a second touchdown from Danicek, this one a three-yard rush. On the final play of the first half, Kyle Beebe and Hunter Hogan paired up for a sixty-four yard touchdown pass. The unsuccessful conversion on this score left Ravenna ahead 13-12 as they headed to halftime.

In the third quarter, it was all Oakridge. Their offensive line opened up holes for their running backs to thrive, as they scored a trio of touchdowns. Gage Lamadline got things going with a twenty-three yard touchdown run. Corey Vanderputte pushed across the goal line on the two-point conversion to make it 20-13 Eagles.

Vanderputte would score on the following two possessions for Oakridge on touchdown runs of fifty-six and sixty-six yards respectively. After a successful conversion by Jacob Danicek, the Eagles held a 34-13 lead going into the fourth quarter. They would keep this lead the remainder of the game.

Oakridge outgained Ravenna 411-130 in this contest, including a 325-13 rushing advantage. Corey Vanderputte, who finished with 15 carries for 204 yards and two touchdowns, spearheaded the attack. As a result, he is tonight’s Redi Rental Player of the Game.

Next week, Oakridge will take on Whitehall in their regular season finale. Ravenna will look to finish their season with a victory over Shelby.
