The Unity Christian Crusaders and the West Catholic Falcons have been two of the best programs in the area in the past decade, and the two teams brought tons of history to their first ever conference matchup. After a slow start, Unity Christian was able to pull away and earn the 39-21 victory.

After a scoreless first quarter, West Catholic got the scoring started on a Tim Kloska run from nineteen yards out. The lead would not stand for long as Malekhi Obande ran thirteen yards for Unity’s first score. Obande’s two point conversion try gave the Crusaders a one-point edge.

Coming out of the locker room, both offenses started to hit their stride. Unity struck first on a Paul VanderPloeg touchdown run of two yards. West Catholic was able to respond with Kloska’s second touchdown of the night to bring the Falcons within two. Kobe Beute scored the final touchdown of the third frame to give Unity a 24-13 edge.

The Crusaders made their lead nearly insurmountable when they got a touchdown on the Chandler to Chandler connection as Cameron found Drew for the touchdown from thirty-eight yards out. West Catholic got another touchdown from Tim Kloska, but the game was all but decided at that point. Kobe Beute would pad the final margin with another touchdown run, moving the Crusaders to 2-0.

Unity Christian will look to make it three in a row to open 2020 when they travel to Coopersville. West Catholic will look to bounce back when they visit Spring Lake. Both of these games will be broadcast LIVE on Michigan Sports Radio.
