This past week, we were all over the area covering high school basketball, recapped below. At the bottom, we also have this week’s schedule, including the list of games that are on tap this week. We would like to highlight that we will be broadcasting this Saturday’s Redhawk Showcase LIVE on Michigan Sports Radio!

Caledonia (5-4)

The Fighting Scots had a remarkable week for their boys’ basketball program. This week, Caledonia snapped a 29-game losing streak in OK Red play in a big way. First, they defeated West Ottawa 71-69 on Tuesday. On Friday, they doubled down and completed a week sweep with a thrashing of Grand Haven in their annual Cal vs. Cancer game. In the 55-31 victory, Andrew Larson led the way with 16 points while Carter Thomas added 13 points. Next week, Caledonia will travel to Grandville on Tuesday before visiting East Kentwood on Friday.

Central Montcalm (7-2)

It was another great week for the Hornets, as they won two conference matchups. On Tuesday night, all 14 members of the team checked into the game in the 64-50 victory over Kent City. Gunner Hill led the way with 18 points and 8 rebounds, while Asher Vissman (15 points) and Trey Chapin (10 points) also reached double digits. On Friday night, Central Montcalm hosted their annual Orange Out for the Juvenile Diabetes Benefit Game. In front of a big crowd, Trenton Shaffer had 21 points and 12 rebounds to carry the team to a 72-53 victory. This week, the Hornets will play just one game against Grant on Friday.

Forest Hills Central (8-1)

The undefeated run in the OK White continues for FHC, as the Rangers have now won eight straight games. On Tuesday, FHC defeated Ottawa Hills 71-52. They won the rebounding edge 31-20, led by 11 from Jimmy Scholler, who added 22 points to record a double-double. Three days later, they were taking on Forest Hills Northern for first place in the conference. In that game, FHC was also able to win by a score of 65-59. Scholler was the star of the show once more, as he finished with 29 points. Mitch Wilkinson added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the Rangers. There are a pair of road games this week for the Rangers, first a non-league game against East Grand Rapids on Tuesday. They follow that up with a trip to Northview on Friday night.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central (9-1)

The Cougars had another successful week, winning both games on their schedule. On Tuesday night, they stepped out of the OK Blue for a battle against Covenant Christian. In that 75-45 victory, the Cougars outscored Covenant by twenty points in the second half. Devin Boyd led all scorers with 22 points, while Jack Karasinski added 20. On Friday night, GRCC took down Sparta 80-47 to move to 4-0 in the OK Blue. Kaden Brown had 15 points to lead GRCC, while Mykel Bingham added 14. This week, Catholic Central will visit Spring Lake on Tuesday before hosting Comstock Park on Friday.

Rockford (4-8)

The Rams dropped a pair of conference games this week. On Tuesday night, they lost 62-53 at home against East Kentwood. Three days later, the Rams hosted the Hudsonville Eagles. In that game, a four-point second quarter tripped up Rockford. The 60-42 defeat saw Rockford led by Kaden Seelye and his nine points, while Sam Krist and Jack Lamancusa each added eight points. In their lone game this week, the Rams will travel to West Ottawa on Friday.
