Instant Classic at Northview
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st, but after a few snow days the Sailors finally headed to Northview on Thursday night for a highly anticipated matchup with the other undefeated team in the OK Gold. This one went down as an instant classic as both teams displayed their star power and preparation with every in-game adjustment.
After being down 9 points going into the 4th quarter, Carson Vis was incredible with four 4th quarter 3’s that helped the Sailors climb back. After a big back door layup from Fackler, South took the lead with 40 seconds to go. Cam Ryans, who was big all night would hit a big 3 to regain the lead. After a run out layup by Northview, the Sailors were down 3 with 20 seconds left before Vis rose up and tied the game. Northview’s Brady Swartz would go on to hit a tough baseline shot at the buzzer and that would seal the victory for the Wildcats.
Vis had a new career high of 38 points while Ryans finished with 34 points that included scoring his 1,000th point in this matchup. The Sailors and Wildcats will face each other again in a February 18th rematch at South Christian High School and live on Michigan Sports Radio.

Davis Kemper has a big game scoring against Wayland’s zone defense with 24 points and 11 rebounds. More three pointers fell from Owen Burgess, Charlie DeHaan, Caleb Pleune, and Nolan Fackler throughout the evening. “The best part of the game was the 18 assists as a team”, said South Christian’s Head Coach Taylor Johnson.
The #9 Sailors now move to the second half of conference play at 5-1 with a huge matchup at #7 Catholic Central on Tuesday, January 28th.
