For South Christian, it was the first Friday Night home double header of the year as they welcomed in the boys and girls varsity teams from West Catholic. The ladies tipped off the action with the first game of the double header. The Falcons took the lead early thanks to a big first half of action by Anna Ignatoski with 12 points. The Falcons went into halftime with 26-18 halftime lead. Meredith Helmus and Lily Nitz kept the Sailors within striking distance thanks to some sharp shooting and aggressive defense, but it was not quite enough as the Falcons maintained a 9+ lead to close out with a 62-49 victory.

West Catholic (8-1) went on to beat Holt on Saturday, Jan 11, 56-46 and face Northview on Tuesday, Jan 14. The Sailors (8-2) welcome in Grand Rapids Union on Tuesday, Jan 14.

The second half of the doubleheader saw a convincing 74-45 victory for South Christian. The Sailors got off to a fast start and hit some timely early three point shots to get the lead to 10 thanks to the hot hand of Davis Kemper. The hot shooting brought South Christian into halftime with a 43-18 lead. “We are starting to share the ball better and the team assists are rising”, says Head Coach Taylor Johnson as the Sailors finished with 14 assists.

The Sailors moved to 6-3 and 2-0 in the OK Gold as they travel to Grand Rapids Union on Tuesday, Jan 14. The Falcons moved to 6-4 with a 73-19 victory the next day against Shelby and face Northview on Tuesday, Jan 14.
