For the second straight season, Freeland improves to 6-0. They reached that mark with a dominating 46-0 victory over Essexville Garber.

The Freeland defense continues to look strong, as they pitched their fourth shutout of the season. In six games, Freeland has allowed just twelve total points. Garber found themselves in Falcons’ territory six times, but each opportunity was stalled by the Freeland front.

In the first quarter, Freeland only scored once. Braden Petrie reeled off a 56-yard touchdown run, that was paired with a successful conversion pass. This gave the Falcons an 8-0 edge.

Freeland would balloon their lead to 32 points with a trio of scoring plays in the second stanza. Kaden Gerzseny, Keenan Cooper and Petrie all found the end zone using their legs. Cooper’s run was the most thrilling, as he ripped off a 71-yard sprint past the Dukes defenders.

In the third quarter, Freeland was able to push the lead to 46 with two quick touchdowns. At that point, the running clock limited the offensive opportunities for both sides.

Not to be lost in their defeat, Garber’s freshman tailback Dominck Knezek had 17 carries for 107 yards.

Next week, Freeland will square off with Bay City John Glenn. The Bobcats enter that contest with a 3-3 record after falling to Frankenmuth this Friday.
