Central Montcalm scores fast and often to stun Grant at home. The Hornets came out quick and scored 2-minutes in with a 4-yard run from Hayden Train. The PAT is good. Central Montcalm would get another crack at the endzone when Jamison Johns finds Emmett Lingeman from 6-yards out. The PAT is good. The Hornets would score once more before Grant got on the board, this time with a 17-yard rushing score from Isaac Johnson. The 1st quarter would end with Grant finally getting on the board. Oakley Obenauf would find Zak Barnhart. The 2-point attempt would fall short. At the end of 1, Central Montcalm 21, Grant 6.
The 2nd quarter would start quick with another Hornet touchdown from Train from a yard out. The PAT would be good. The clock would tick to just above 2-minutes and Johns and Lingeman would connect again for a 40-yard score. The next possession, Grant would punt to Isaac Johnson, and he would return it 40-yards and cross the goal line. Grant would respond just before half, when Obenauf would scramble for a 14-yard score. The 2-point try would be converted. At half, Central Montcalm leads 40-14.
The Hornets would see two more scores in the 3rd quarter. First, a Joey Morrow 6-yard rushing score. Followed 4-minutes later with an Anthony Schultz II 52-yard breakaway score. The PAT would be good. Heading into the 4th, Hornets 53, Tigers 14.
Grant would score a pair of their own in the 4th quarter. 12-seconds into the quarter Obenauf would score from 2-yards out. The 2-point try would be good. 4-minutes left in the game; Cohen Garrod would catch a 2-yard reception from Obenauf to finish the game. Central Montcalm wins 53-28 over Grant.
Central Montcalm moves 2-5 on the season and will be on the road to Newaygo next week. Grant drops to 1-6. They will face off against Reed City on the road.
