The Warriors run away with a victory on the road against Newaygo, 32-19. The scoring started on the first drive when Newaygo drove the ball down the field and ended with a Grant Harkness 2-yard run 4-minutes into the game. Josiah Long makes the PAT. No longer than 3-minutes later, Chippewa Hills response with a short goal line run of their own, Jon Koepf scores from 1-yard out. The Warriors put another six on the board with the Austin Humphrey 26-yard dash. Tyler Geer scores on the 2-point try. The Lions would have answer with 1-minute left in the quarter, when Harkness would roll to his right and find Josiah Long for 35-yard pitch and catch score. At the end of the 1st quarter, Newaygo 13, Chippewa Hills 12.

The only score of the 2nd quarter came early. 2-minutes into the quarter Koepf would find the endzone once again for another 1-yard scamper. The 2-point try was no good. At the half the Warriors would hold the 18-13 advantage.

Chippewa Hills would start the 3rd quarter the same way they started the 2nd, adding six points to the board, this time from special teams. Koepf would return a punt from the Lions and take it 55-yards to the crib. Newaygo’s response wouldn’t come until late in the 3rd quarter when Harkness rolls to his right once again, pump fakes, then finds a wide-open Dyllan Bazzett to keep the Lions in the game. At the end of 3rd quarter Chippewa Hills led 24-19.

The only score in the 4th quarter came late when Chippewa Hills would put the dagger in Newaygo with a short run from Koepf, for his 4th score of the game. The 2-point run would be good from Gage Saathoff. The Warriors would come out victorious 32-19.

Chippewa Hills improves to 3-4. They will host Tri-County next Friday. Newaygo drops to 2-5. They travel to Central Montcalm in week eight.
