The first week of high school football is behind us, and there was plenty of excitement. This week the OK blue is set to play their last non-conference game before playing each other for playoff contentions.

Allendale v Hopkins

The Falcons will be on the road this week after they picked up a win last week against Greenville. Tyler Sparks lead the offense with 82 yards passing and 98 yards rushing. Landon Adams added two touchdowns to the Falcons’ tally. They will face rival Hopkins this Thursday. The Vikings will be looking to bounce back after a surprising loss to Wayland in their season opener.

Coopersville v Sparta

The Coopersville Broncos will travel to Sparta to visit the Spartans this week. Coopersville is coming off a 42-19 win this past week, and they hope to carry that momentum into this game. Both the Broncos and the Spartans are coming off successful seasons last year, laying the foundation for a strong challenge in Coopersville’s final non-conference game. In their home opener, Sparta will look to bounce back after suffering a 30-14 defeat to Muskegon Oakridge.

Fruitport v Grand Rapids Christian

The Trojans are coming off a close battle with Kenowa Hills, a 32-20 win. Fruitport was a force on the ground as they ended with a total of 335 rushing yards last Thursday. They are scheduled to face Grand Rapids Christian, who lost their season opener. The Eagles struggled to get on the board against South Christian and were held to just seven points.

Holland Christian v Wayland

The Maroons started the 2022 season with a spectacular showing, shutting out the Holland Dutch in a 58-0 blowout. Holland Christian had a great team performance with eight different players making a trip to the end zone last Thursday night. They are set to play Wayland this week on their newly renovated field. Both the Maroons and Wildcats had success in their openers and will look to carry that energy into this upcoming week.

Hamilton v Benzie Central

A rematch of Week 2 from last season will take place this Thursday between the Hamilton Hawkeyes and the Benzie Central Huskies. Last year, the game was pretty low scoring affair resulting in a 16-8 victory for the Hawkeyes. Both Hamilton and Benzie Central are coming off of tough seasons in 2021. However, the Hawkeyes are coming off a positive 62-0 win last week against LakeVille, while the Huskies look to rebound after losing a 51-35 contest last Friday night against Boyne City.

West Catholic v Ferndale

In their home opener, the West Catholic Falcons looked to be running away with the game against Edwardsburg. They had a 28-0 lead going into half time, but the Eddies made a 20-0 run to make the final score 28-20. It was all Tim Kloska for the Falcons, who ended up with three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. They are set to play Ferndale, who is coming off a 27-26 battle against Macomb L’Anse Cruese.

Unity Christian v St. Joseph

Unity Christian is entering this Thurday’s game in an unfamiliar position with a zero in the win column and a one in the loss column. They were stunned by Whitehall in a 54-26 scoring frenzy last week. They hope to return to their winning ways as they face St. Joseph on the road. Both teams will enter this game hungry for a victory, as the Bears are coming off a 49-28 loss at the hands of Traverse City Central.
