The West Catholic Falcons and Edwardsburg Eddies both entered 2022 coming off seasons with immense success. Both teams lost to Unity Christian, and West Catholic had another loss to Grand Rapids Catholic Central. This had all the makings of a thrilling game, as it was also the first game for new West Catholic Head Coach Landon Grove. The Falcons had full control of this game in the first half, but the Eddies put up a tough fight in the second half, ultimately falling 28-20.

In the first half, it was all Tim Kloska. He ran the ball into the end zone three separate times running for scores of 1, 19, and 61 yards. Kloska is coming off a fantastic season with a whopping 29 touchdowns. Tonight was just the start for Kloska as we begin the 2022 season with all eyes on the area’s best running back.

After hitting the locker room, the Eddies had hoped to put a stop to Kloska’s ground attack. This plan was thwarted when Kloska became a part of the passing game, catching a pass from Bernie Varnesdeel for his fourth touchdown of the night.

Trailing 28-0, Edwardsburg put together a tough fight to bring the game back to single digits in the fourth quarter. They scored twenty unanswered points, and had opportunities to draw even closer. Braden Seabolt ran the ball over the goal line twice, while Mikey Pryor found the end zone once.

Tim Kloska ran for a total of 160 yards in this victory, averaging 8.9 yards per carry. He is set to have another outstanding season with the West Catholic Falcons.

The Eddies did not complete a pass, but their running game was solid. The T-offense of Edwardsburg ran for a total of 230 yards, with Andrew Colvin setting the pace with 67.

Next week, West Catholic will hope to keep their winning momentum together in a matchup against Ferndale. The Eddies will look to get back to their winning ways as they are scheduled to face Three Rivers in a Wolverine Conference opener.
