The Ravenna Bulldogs suffered a narrow 14-7 defeat last week against Montague. This week, they rallied back for an impressive 41-14 win over the Hart Pirates.
Kyle Beebe got things started with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Owen Scott early in the first quarter. Later in the frame, Ravenna’s lead was extended to fourteen points with a 2-yard toss from Beebe to Drew Mabrito.
Hart answered back with their first touchdown of the game. Kellen Kimes and Chance Alvesteffer paired up for a 30-yard touchdown strike, but an unsuccessful conversion left the Pirates behind by eight. Ravenna would respond with two scores in the final six minutes of the second quarter. Clay Schullo was responsible for both touchdowns, carrying the ball across the goal line from 2 and 6 yards respectively. These scores gave the Bulldogs a 28-6 halftime advantage.
Schullo would continue his roll in the second half, scoring twice more. First, Clay Schullo ripped off an 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Early in the fourth, he finished Ravenna’s scoring with a 2-yard plunge. Hart’s final touchdown was a 19-yard toss from Kellen Kimes.
Ravenna rushed for 299 yards in this victory. Hunter Hogan was held out of the end zone, but he set the pace with 121 yards on the ground. Clay Schullo added 107 yards on 14 carries.
Next week, Ravenna will take on North Muskegon. Hart will battle with Whitehall.
