The girls basketball action this past week was great here on Michigan Sports Radio. These games are recapped below, as well as the schedule for this week’s action, where there are four days of basketball on the calendar.

Caledonia (3-10)

It was another tough week for the Caledonia ladies’ team, as they fell in back to back games. On Tuesday, they battled Grandville to a tough game before falling 45-36. Friday saw Caledonia face a very tough East Kentwood team, and they lost 65-22. This week, Caledonia has a pair of home games on the schedule. On Tuesday, Lowell comes to town and then on Friday, the undefeated Hudsonville Eagles come to town.

Central Montcalm (9-4)

This week, the Hornets won both of their games. On Tuesday, they took down Grant in a 46-38 game. Some big offensive plays and key defensive stops late sealed the victory for Central Montcalm. Bailey Vissman led the way with 11 points, while Brielle Collins also finished in double figures with 10 points. London Eldridge nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with 9 points and 11 rebounds.

On Friday night, Central Montcalm defeated Covenant Christian 47-25. Bailey Vissman nearly outscored the entire opposing team, finishing with 22 points. Anna Loew had 7 points to go along with 4 rebounds. This week, the Hornets travel to Kent City on Tuesday before hosting Newaygo on Friday.

Forest Hills Central (9-5)

The Lady Rangers had the exact same results that the boys’ team did this week, a 1-1 split. On Tuesday night, they took on 13-1 East Grand Rapids. The Pioneers showed why they are one of the area’s best, dominating in a 78-43 win. Three days later, FHC rallied with a victory over Northview. It was a defensive battle, as the Rangers won 30-20. This week, there is only one game on the schedule, a Friday night home game against Greenville.

South Christian (5-7)

The South Christian Sailors had a tough week, losing a pair of games. On Tuesday, they were upset on the road against Forest Hills Eastern, a shocking 36-31 defeat. On Friday night, they played the 11-2 Grand Rapids Christian Eagles and hung in throughout the first half, but they were never able to take the lead, falling 55-40. Taylor Newhof led South with 11 in that defeat. This week, the Sailors host undefeated Hudsonville on Tuesday before Wyoming comes to town on Friday.

Rockford (10-3)

This week, the Rockford ladies had just one basketball game. They visited West Ottawa on Friday, and took on the Panthers, who entered winners of three of their last four games. Rockford was unable to come up with the final basket, falling two points shy in a 41-39 ball game. Facing three of the best teams in the OK Red, Rockford has now lost three straight after winning their first ten. They will try to bounce back on Tuesday against Byron Center (12-1), before returning to OK Red play against Grandville (4-9).
