Rockfords Anna Wypych named Miss Basketball 2025

 

Anna Wypych of Rockford was named Miss Basketball by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan at the Detroit Free Press on Monday, March 17, 2025.  The award is named after legendary sportswriter Mick McCabe.

Anna is the first player from Rockford to earn this distinguished award.  Anna holds eight school records and helped lead Rockford to its first State Championship as a sophomore.

The 6’1” sharpshooter and point guard is committed to Butler University.  Anna is averaging 21.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 58.3 percent from the field, 44 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the line.  Rockford has a record of 25-1 and will face Grand Haven in quarter final action this Tuesday at Muskegon Mona Shores.

During Anna’s four-year career she has led Rockford to a 102-7 record including three consecutive trips to the Semi-Finals at the Breslin Center.  Anna set a single game scoring record with 38 points against East Kentwood and has 1564 career points so far.  She also has school records in assists (269), steals (212), points in a season (568), free-throws made (350) and three pointers in a game (7) .
