‘Battle at the Igloo’ Victory over Belleville!
In the first Annual “Battle at the Igloo”, South Christian was invited down to Portage Northern Saturday night to play against highly ranked Belleville from. In this tough, physical matchup, the Sailors stuck to their game plan and stout defense to win the game.
After being down one going into halftime, South Christian came out in the third playing great basketball. The hot start was lead by the big guys up front with Ike Schrotenboer scoring 20 points with 6 rebounds and Davis Kemper scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for another double-double. Carson Vis ran the show with 21 points, 4 assists, and 8 rebounds. The Sailors went on to win 58-46 over one of the best teams in the state in Division 1.
Conference Road Victory at West Catholic
“It was not our best game Friday night”, said Head Coach Taylor Johnson. He continued to praise West Catholic, “that’s because West Catholic had a great game plan and competed hard and took us out of our rhythm.” The Sailors would go on to win 50-35 on the road led by Carson Vis with 16 points. The bigs – Schrotenboer, Kemper, and Ty Brinks – combined for 23 points and 15 rebounds.
Team Win at Thornapple Kellogg
It was a total team win at Thornapple Kellogg last Tuesday night as the Sailors came out with great passion and energy and pulled away early. The Sailors looked focused as they went on to win 71-31. Kemper led the way with 15 points and 6 rebounds, but everyone was able to get in the scoring column as the team had 20 assists in the game.
