The Coopersville Broncos had little trouble with Greenville on Friday night, moving to 4-1 overall, but more importantly, 3-0 in the River Cities Alliance. Their victory came easily, with a 42-7 cushion.
In the opening stanza, Coopersville found the end zone twice. Initially, it was Isaac Lemeiux that powered across the goal line, racing from 20 yards out to give the Broncos a 7-0 lead. Later in the period, Beau Harris and Brooks Hadden connected for a touchdown toss that gave the victors a 14-point advantage.
Coopersville’s lead would double throughout the second quarter, with a pair of scoring drives. The duo of Harris and Hadden linked up twice more in this quarter, this time providing a 19-yard touchdown strike that was followed up by another 37-yard score. Both touchdown catches put the Broncos in front 28-0.
In the third quarter, the lethal combination of Harris and Hadden picked back up where they left off. Their third score of the night was a 37-yarddown toss, giving Coopersville a 35-0 lead and enacting the running clock.
Greenville would manage a touchdown on a Sullivan Witt rushing score, but Coopersville would wrap up the night with a short carry by Leland Noel.
Next week, RCA play continues for Coopersville, as they take on Allendale. Greenville, now 1-4, faces Sparta looking to rebound.
