The Central Montcalm Hornets took on Chippewa Hills in another former conference game that turned into a CSAA crossover matchup. It was one-sided, as Central Montcalm cruised to a 59-15 victory.
In the first quarter alone, Central Montcalm found the end zone three times. On their opening drive, Anthony Schultz reeled off a 51-yard touchdown run, blazing past the Warriors’ defenders. This was followed up by a 15-yard scamper by the quarterback Emmett Lingeman. Schultz would return to the end zone with a 19-yard carry, pushing the Hornets to a 19-7 advantage.
Cam Bracy found the end zone in the opening moments of the second quarter, relying on his return skills to get the Hornets even further ahead. He fielded a Chippewa Hills punt and raced to the end zone on a 48-yard return. Lingeman and the offense would not be outmatched, with their own explosive touchdown pass of 85 yards, connecting with Jamison Johns to give the Hornets a 34-7 lead that they would take into the locker room.
After halftime, things continued to go in Central Montcalm’s favor. Anthony Schultz completed his hat trick with a 65-yard sprint to the end zone, extended the Hornets’ lead to 33 points. On the ensuing Warriors drive, the ball was pried free, and senior lineman Waylon Lingeman secured the pigskin and rumbled 25 yards for a touchdown.
Johnny Rebollar would add a pair of insurance touchdowns with late runs in this contest. His first score came from 8 yards out, while the final tally was a 4-yard plunge.
With this victory, Central Montcalm improves to 2-1 on the season. They will start their four-game conference slate next week against Morley-Stanwood. Chippewa Hills slides to 0-3 with this defeat. They will look to get their first win next week against Big Rapids.
