It’s been an up and down season for the Bullock Creek Lancers. Bullock Creek dominated their week one matchup. They would go on to fall in weeks two and three by just a total of 14-points. But the last two weeks have been kind to Bullock Creek as they have dominated their two opponents by a total score of 84-8. This week with their sights on taking a third in a row, they would make it a big Homecoming for their crowd.
Bullock Creek really came out and set the tone early in this one. Their first drive of the game would take up nearly five minutes of game time. They would pay it off after a Bo Schwartz touchdown run to give the Lancers a 7-0 lead. This had the defense wanting to get in line with the offense very early as Bullock Creek would come out and force a couple big sacks to get their offense the ball back. Sophomore Kuper Wiklanski was in on both.
The Bullock Creek offense clearly wanted to make a statement early in this one and they did just that. The Lancer offense went on a ‘ground and pound’ drive yet again as the run game was having their way. They would pay it off early in the second quarter after another Bo Schwartz rushing touchdown to make it a 14-0 lead. Hemlock would finally look like they might put something together thank to a Casey Walker big first down catch. But on a 3rd and 14, it would be Bullock Creek keeping the momentum as Mannix Fitzgerald came up with an interception to stall the Huskies drive. This gave the Lancers even more life and they took full advantage as Bullock Creek would cruise into the locker room with a 27-0 lead.
It was a night where clearly the Lancers wanted to have some fun. They would have the opening kickoff but instead of kicking it deep they would kick an onside kick that would give the ball to their offense. The Lancers would get themselves into some trouble after penalties but then it would be another big play from Bo Schwartz on a 4th and 17. It would then be Zane Schwartz to pay it off and took one into the endzone. It would be Bullock Creek, 34-0, to that point. Hemlock, looking to put their first points on the board of the night, would drive deep into Lancer territory. Again, the Bullock Creek defense just wasn’t having it. They would force a big fumble to keep the Huskies off the board. The offense would get rolling again, Another methodical drive capped off by, you guessed it, Bo Schwartz, would have the home crowd rocking with a 42-0 lead.
Hemlock would finally grab a touchdown of their own late but this was all the Lancers night. Bullock Creek goes on to win this one, on their night, 42-7.
The Huskies will fall to 1-5 on the season. After winning their week two matchup with Valley Lutheran, things have not come easy for Hemlock as they haven’t been able to stick around in many games. They’ll have an opportunity to climb out of that next week when they take on 0-6 Carrollton.
All of a sudden there’s a team in Bullock Creek who has picked up some big momentum down the stretch of the regular season. The Lancers have now won three in a row in dominate fashion. They’ll need to keep every bit of that momentum as they take on a Millington team that has not lost a game this season. The Cardinals cruised past St. Louis tonight, 34-0. Those two will battle at Bullock Creek High School next Friday night.
