Last week, Caledonia suffered a frustrating defeat at the hands of the Rockford Rams. This week, they were back at home with Jenison in town for a homecoming showdown. The rowdy hometown crown was exactly what this bunch needed, as they cruised to a 32-6 victory.
In the first quarter, Caledonia found the end zone once. It was a 29-yard toss from Brody Betser to Maddox Greenfield. A failed PAT attempt left the Fighting Scots ahead by just six.
Caledonia was able to extend their lead in the second quarter with two scoring plays. Betser took to the air again, pairing up with Derek Pennington Jr on a 5-yard touchdown toss. The Fighting Scots added a 36-yard field goal to lead 15-0 at halftime.
Brock Townsend pushed Caledonia further in front with a 26-yard touchdown catch from Betser. Jenison scored to start the fourth quarter, but a field goal and another passing play from Betser to Townsend allowed Caledonia to secure a 32-6 victory.
Brody Betser was 11/18 passing for 198 yards and four scores. Betser added 80 rushing yards on 15 carries. Brock Townsend had 73 rushing yards on 15 carries, in addition to the 43 receiving yards and his two scores. Maddox Greenfield paced the receivers with 107 yards and a score on six catches.
With the victory, Caledonia improves to 4-1. They will take on Hudsonville next week. Jenison slides to 0-5, and they will try to bounce back next week against East Kentwood
