12/18/2022

  • Mattawan made the trip East to take on Frederick Douglas in a rare Sunday game, held on to take the win 48-44. The Wildcats will improve to 5-0 on the young season. Ryan Kiesling (12 points, 9 rebounds), Connor Walsh (11 points), and Noah Vanlaningham (10 points) led the way for Mattawan.

12/19/2022

  • Forest Hills Eastern would defeat East Grand Rapids, 63-51, at the Cornerstone Holiday Classic Tournament on Monday. Mac DenBraber and Aiden Sullivan both led the way for the Hawks with 16 points apiece. Simon Neuhaus led the Pioneers with 24 points.
  • Grand Rapids Union defeated Benton Harbor for a big program win, 72-63. The Red Hawks were led by Marquan Ross with 26 points, Kayle Lockridge pitched in 14, and Tayshaun Allen finished with 11.
  • Loy Norrix defeated Lansing Sexton, 74-69. The Knights were led by Cedric Huntley with 15 points. Devin Knight added 12 points.
  • Wyoming Godwin Heights picked up a win over Muskegon Reeths-Puffer, 59-57. Jakhary Towns put on a show at the Cornerstone Holiday Classic, pouring in 30 points for Godwin Heights. Travis Ambrose led Reeths-Puffer with 20 points. Jaxson Whitaker added 15.

12/20/2022

  • Calvin Christian picked up a win over Holland Christian, 65-49. Carson DeHaan had 22 points for the Squires, while Jack Agema added 17 points. Calvin would at one point lead the game 26-0 to cruise in this one. Carter Spencer scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half.
  • Cedar Springs picked up their first win of the year, defeating Potters House Christian 39-36. Sophomore Marek Oleneak picked up his first double-double as a varsity player with 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Red Hawks.
  • Forest Hills Northern put together a nearly flawless game en route to a 57-35 win over Holland. Alex Joseph led the way for the Huskies with 22 points on the night. Cameron Ferguson finished as the leading scorer for Holland with 11.
  • Grandville defeated West Catholic, 53-33. Cam Regnerus led the way for the Bulldogs with 12 points while Quinton Hendrickson and Tyson Mann pitched in 12 apiece.
  • Grand Haven defeated Arthur Hill, 81-60. The Bucs were led by Harrison Sorrelle who finished with 25 points. Grand Haven never trailed in their home opener.
  • Holton dropped a close game to Hesperia, 45-48. Carter Brant had a big game for the Red Devils with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Brodrick Fialek pitched in 16 points. Ethan O’Neil helped lead the Panthers to victory with 14 points on the night. Matteo Materdomini helped with 10 points. Holton head coach Keith Swanson is still happy with his team and had high praise for an improving Hesperia team, “This was a very competitive rivalry game. We came out on the wrong side but I’m proud of how my guys played. Coach Wocester just continues to do a great job with his guys. We’ll learn from this game and move on”.
  • Hudsonville picked up a win over Unity Christian, 55-40. The Eagles are now 2-2 on the season and will get some time off before playing at Cornerstone University on December 28th. Brayden Szamrej led Hudsonville with 13 points and Mason Dykstra add 12.
  • Loy Norix would drop their game against Mason, 46-83. Kaleb Parrish and Luke Marlan (23 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists) made the all tournament team for Mason. Carson Carswell finished with 16 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Levi Stambaugh added 14 points. Austin Stone pitched in 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
  • Montague dropped their game with Ludington, 46-82. Braedon Johnston led the Wildcats with 9 points on the night. The Orioles shot nearly lights out going 55% from the field and knocking down 9 three-pointers in the contest.
  • Muskegon picked up a big win over Traverse City Central, 73-38. Jordan Briggs led the Big reds with 27 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Terrence Davis added 11 points and 9 rebounds. Stanley Cunningham pitched in 10 points and 5 rebounds.
  • Muskegon Catholic Central won a thriller of a game over Orchard View, 43-41. The Crusaders really got off to a slow start in the game with the Cardinals grabbing leads of 8-0 and 15-8 at points. In fact, Catholic Central would trail most of this game while their defense would keep them in it. Then they would pay their defense off when Braden Gustin would hit the game winning floater in the lane with just twenty-fine seconds remaining. Gustin would knock down big free throws late as Catholic Central would battle to pull off a gritty win. Gustin finished the night with 12 points. Bryan Convertini had a big night defensively with 4 steals, one of which led to the game winning bucket. The Crusaders have a lot of momentum heading into the break at 3-2.
  • NorthPointe Christian defeated Covenant Christian, 56-53.
  • North Muskegon picked up a win at Shelby, defeating the Tigers 66-41. Brandon Rypstra had a big game in this one going 4 of 5 from deep on the way to 16 points on the night. Lamarkis Graham pitched in 13 points and Sam Gallo put in 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Bishop Lee led Shelby with 17 points in the game. Even with Lee hard to contain inside, Norse head coach Chuck Rypstra credited his teams shooting early to get things going. “We shot the ball really well tonight. The first quarter we hit three pointers and that really loosened things up for us. We had a hard time guarding Bishop Lee inside tonight, but checked up on their shooters. Shelby does a nice job of running their sets, you really have to defend the whole court”.
  • Northview cruised to a 66-49 win over Kenowa Hills. Tyran Thomas led the Wildcats with 19 points. Parker Swartz added 11. Javion Otten had another big game for Kenowa Hills with 29 points.
  • Ravenna dropped their game with Hart, 51-62. The Bulldogs would get off to a slow start in this one but battled their way back more than once. Hart would have an answer every time to grab the win. Ravenna was led by Caleb Forsythe who finished with 18 points on the night. Wyatt Young chipped in 11 points for the Bulldogs.
  • Spring Lake topped Sparta, 74-43. The win moves the Lakers to 2-1 on the season, while Sparta drops to 1-2.
  • Wayland defeated Hamilton in a tightly contested battle throughout, 66-65. Brett Bultsma had a monster game with 25 points including the game winner at the buzzer. Kaharrie Pureifoy added 19 points. Justin McIllwain led the Hawkeyes with 22 points, Brady Tepo added 17 points and Brant Goodpaster pitched in 13.
  • West Michigan Aviation picked up a big one over Kalamazoo Christian, 77-61. Luke Riebel led the way for the Aviators with 25 points, including 7 three-pointers on the night. Joseph May pitched in 14 points and dished out 12 assists. Ethan House added 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Ian Brown had 10 points.
  • West Ottawa picked up a win over Zeeland East, 56-42. Nash Bosma led the Panthers with 15 points on the night. BJ Walker poured in 18 for the Chix.
  • Whitehall would grab a win over Manistee on Tuesday night, 72-24. The Vikings were again dominant on the boards and forced Manistee into 17 turnovers in the game. Camden Thompson (25 points, 23 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals) had another monster game on the young season. Kal Koehler put in a solid effort with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Ca’Mar Ready added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

12/21/2022

  • Forest Hills Eastern picked up a big win over Wyoming Godwin Heights on Wednesday at the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament, 76-56. Mac DenBraber led the Hawks with 16 points. Adam Hardy pitched in 12 points. Aiden Sullivan added 11 points. Eastern moves to 4-0 on the season. Godwin will move to 3-1.
  • Frankenmuth would bounce back in a big way over Valley Lutheran Wednesday night, 61-18. Led by their defense throughout, the Eagles were able to jump up early and cruise to the win. They were led by Carson Knoll with 12 points. Aidan Hoard finished the night with 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
  • Hart would defeat Mesick, 80-46. With the win, the Pirates move to 6-0 heading into the break.
  • Kent City would fall to 0-3 on the season after a close loss to Montabella, 42-46. Jaret Jaramillo led the way for the Eagles with 12 points and Kyler Larson pitched in 10 points.
  • Reeths Puffer would get a bounce back win over East Grand Rapids, 58-44. Jaxson Whitaker had a big night for the Rockets with 22 points earning a spot on the all tournament team. Brayden Mitchelson added 14 points and Travis Ambrose pitched in 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Simon Neuhaus led the way for the Pioneers with 19 points and would earn a spot on the All-Tourney team.

12/22/2022

  • Kenowa Hills grabbed a win over West Catholic at the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament on Thursday, 61-55. Javion Otten led the way for the Knights with 30 points. Sutton Tutas added 20 points as Kenowa Hills moves to 5-1 on the season.
  • Northview cruised to a win over Grandville at the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament, 59-37. EJ Ryans led the Wildcats with 19 points while Cam Ryans helped out with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Northview now moves to 5-0 on the season. Cam Regnerus did a little of everything to help Grandville with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 blocks.
  • Wayland defeated Tri County to move to 4-0 on the season, 82-50. Brett Bultsma had 21 points on the night. Peyton Moore added 12 points. Warren Smith and Drew Lyon both pitched in 11 points apiece. Kaharrie Pureifoy finished with 10 points. Blake Nelson led the way for Tri County with 20 points.
