The red-hot St. Joseph Bears looked to add another win to the column against Mattawan Friday night. Ryan Van Liere would start the scoring off for the night with a 29-yard rushing touchdown to give Mattawan a 7-0 lead. The second quarter was all St. Joseph. A pair of Thomas Moore touchdowns from 8 and 4 yards would give the Bears a 14-7 lead at the half. Ryan Van Liere would even the score in the third with a 1-yard score to tie the game up. Joron Brown was tired of a tight game, so he broke it open with a 14-yard touchdown and a 52-yard touchdown run. Matthew Lanier would find Jordan Bell for a 19-yard touchdown to put the cherry on top of a 34-14 win for the Bears.
Joron Brown had 185 yards on 30 carries and two score. Matthew Lanier had two completions for 43 yards and a touchdown as well as 87 yards on the ground. Thomas Moore had two touchdowns on 13 carries to go along with 63 yards.
St. Joseph will travel to Battle Creek Central in a battle for the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference title, while Mattawan will celebrate the Seniors against Portage Northern at home.
