The Wildcats battled the Hornets from Concord in a non-league bout on Friday night. Marcellus was able to get their fifth win of the season, pushing forward their pursuit of the playoffs.
The final in this battle was 37-14 in favor of Marcellus. Parker Adams completed 6/7 passes for 69 yards. He also rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown. Cole Thornburgh led Marcellus with three rushing touchdowns. Dawsen Lechew adds 108 rushing yards, one touchdown and three tackles for loss.
The 37-14 win for Marcellus should help in its pursuit for a playoff spot. The Wildcats are now 5-2 on the season. Last week, they were ranked 20th in 8-Man Division 1, four spots she 16-team field. This victory, paired with some losses above them, should help narrow the margin.
Next week, Marcellus will face Mendon in a game that would be enormous for their playoff chances. Concord is now 4-3 after their slide in non-league action each of the past two weeks. They look to rebound against an unbeaten Northpointe Christian squad next week.
